FREE: HPCA/FEDIP Community Webinar: The Judgement Gap: The Human Impact of AI in Healthcare

AI is now part of everyday work across the NHS, from ambient voice technology in clinics to generative AI in corporate and administrative teams. Most adoption effort goes into getting people using the tools. Far less goes into what sustained use does to the people using them.
Sonya Cullington introduces the Judgement Gap: the distance between confident AI use and competent AI use. Drawing on cyberpsychology, she explains why confidence with AI often grows faster than the ability to assess what it produces, what the Judgement Gap is and isn’t, and the early warning signs that it may already be showing up in your teams.
Why should people attend?
Human in the loop is the main safeguard in most AI deployments. It assumes the person checking brings the same attention and judgement on the hundredth day as on the first. This session looks at what happens when that assumption doesn’t hold, and why training attendance and usage figures won’t tell you.
It is relevant to anyone leading or supporting digital change, AVT rollouts, EPR implementation, workforce development or information governance.
What will they take away from the session?
• A working definition of the Judgement Gap and how it differs from general concerns about AI accuracy
• Warning signs to look for in individuals, teams and workflows
• Why a human check on its own isn’t assurance
• Understanding the cost of going faster, in how AI is rolled out and in how people work with it
• A view of what practical support looks like for teams that want to go further
