What is the HPCA Ambient Voice Technology Special Interest Group?

The Purpose
To connect the multidisciplinary people responsible for making AVT work in practice, enabling them to solve adoption challenges together, develop reusable practice and strengthen NHS capability to implement, adopt, optimise and sustain AVT.
Who is the group for?
The AVT SIG is open to anyone with an interest in Ambient Voice Technology and its role in health and care. Whether you are already implementing AVT, exploring its potential, working in digital transformation, clinical practice or service improvement, or simply want to understand more about the technology, you are welcome to join.
What can you expect?
The AVT SIG aims to provide a collaborative environment where members can:
  • Share experiences, insights and practical learning
  • Explore the opportunities and challenges of implementing AVT
  • Discuss emerging developments and their impact on health and care
  • Learn from peers and different approaches across organisations
  • Share useful resources, ideas and examples of good practice
  • Build connections with others working in this evolving field

Why the SIG matters

  • Focus on adoption, not just implementation – Helping turn AVT technology into routine clinical practice and measurable value.
  • Bring the right people together – Connecting clinical, digital, transformation, change, workforce, benefits, IG and technical expertise around shared adoption challenges.
  • Learn from real experience – Creating a safe space to share what worked, what didn’t, the barriers encountered and how they were overcome.
  • Turn learning into practical resources – Transforming real-world experience into case studies, tools, checklists, examples and recommendations that others can use.
  • Build lasting digital adoption capability –  Developing skills and confidence through peer learning and practical problem-solving, reducing reliance on external support.
  • Connect AVT with the wider Digital Adoption community – Creating an AVT Digital Adoption Practice Lab where implementation experience drives learning, improvement, professional development and better resources.
