We are the professional body for project and change staff working in healthcare.
The Healthcare Project and Change Association (HPCA) is a sustainable, not-for-profit organisation, hosted by the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), that promotes professional standards and supports the interests of project and change professionals in healthcare in the UK. It builds the workforce capacity and capability needed to enable the system to change and innovate for the benefit of patients and service users.
Our mission is to represent and support health and social care projects and change professionals through influencing health and social care policy, promoting best practices, and providing high-quality Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and education.
WHY WE ARE NEEDED
The healthcare sector is facing unprecedented challenges in recovering from the impact of Covid and delivering services fit for the future in a complex and ever-changing environment.
The success of the association has been recognised in advancing change management practice and contribution to project management by the professional body, in its development of the 2000 strong community across 450 NHS organisations to date.
Our aim is to create a self-sustaining healthcare project and change profession built on a solid foundation for the long term across the NHS, for the benefit of patients and service users. The NHS will always be faced with change and challenges. An investment in the professionals that help us meet this challenge represents excellent value for money.
We will also create a step change in the delivery of projects and change by providing unprecedented support to everyone working on NHS projects, which delivers transformation, cost improvement, efficiency, and service change.

HOW WE WORK
The Healthcare Project and Change Association (HPCA) delivers the NHS Project Futures workforce strategy by supporting the healthcare sector to build the skills and competencies needed to successfully navigate the current challenges and develop sustainable capacity and capability for the future.
WHO WE WORK WITH
Regional Network Leads
There is lots of fantastic work going on across the profession that we are building on and sharing. With the regional networks, we are building connectivity within each region and also creating links to an overarching steering group that oversees activities
Corporate partners & sponsors
Multiple organisations are working with us to support the NHS project professionals by helping our Association to grow. By creating collaborative partnership relationships, bringing expertise, additional resources and funding.
Champions & Ambassadors
We are very pleased to have over fifty Champions and Ambassadors who selflessly give up their time to promote the HPCA and help to spread the word. These volunteers come from every level of the workforce and contribute to our ideas, support our events and help us to make things happen.
As valued members of the wider HPCA team, it is a pleasure to work with them and encourage advancement in their own careers.
Networking across the NHS
The organisation already delivers a successful virtual festival. In the first year 900 professionals registered to attend from across all parts of the country, enabling all roles and levels to have an inclusive opportunity to network, learn and share.
