From Humble Beginnings to Transformative Change 

For members who journeyed with us since our initial days as the voluntary collaborative, NHS Project Futures, and those just joining the Healthcare Project and Change Association (HPCA), we extend a warm welcome to join us on this purpose. 

“We help health and care deliver projects and change to improve services for all.” 

From navigating through our transformative journey to being shortlisted for an APM award, we are constantly evolving, ensuring we’re always at the forefront of pioneering professional developments essential to support the delivery of innovations in patient care. 

Key Milestones: 

  • A collaborative of 10 NHS organisations began a community of practice in 2017. 
  • A unanimous decision to develop the project and change profession at the 2019 conference. 
  • A collaborative vision for the profession developed by the Regional Network Leads in 2020, modelled in Lego. 
  • Successful delivery of valuable professional resources and frameworks remotely, showcasing the resilience and dedication of community collaborative working during challenging times. 
  • Shortlisted for an APM Award for ‘Contribution to the Profession’ in 2021  
  • The HPCA starts its journey to become a sustainable professional association charity in 2022. 
  • The first HPCA Conference is being held in London, October 2023. 
  • The HPCA application to the Charities Commission is to be submitted November 2023.

Focusing on a fundamental Vision: to future-proof the profession and support continuous innovation and improvement in the NHS and Social Care, our strategy embraced the professional association charity model that the Finance, HR and Commercial professions had successfully developed.  

Our aspiration: to generate a wealth of knowledge, skills, and experiences vital for the sustainability and innovation of the NHS and the social care sector to ensure improved services for future generations of patients.
